BENEFITS
P.L. 2001/S22 Assures certain benefits to certain police, fire and emergency personnel under certain circumstances in regard to the terrorist acts of September 11, 2001 or pursuant to an Executive Order by the Governor.
P.L. 2001/S338 Exempts emergency volunteers from the 7-day waiting period for workers' compensation.
P.L. 2002/S1432 Requires State payment of survivor's pension when volunteer fire fighter or emergency services worker suffers accidental death on duty.
P.L. 2004/A337 Requires N.J. Firemen's Association to pay death benefits to members employed as law enforcement officers who die in terrorist attack.

P.L. 2001/A2273 Provides enhanced benefits to survivors of certain PFRS members
P.L. 2001/A3549 Provides pension benefit to certain survivors of certain PFRS members.
P.L. 2001/A3666 Changes interest rate for mortgage loans from PFRS.
P.L. 2001/S932 Permits rehired firefighter to purchase PFRS credit for 3 years of layoff period.
P.L. 2001/S1289 Permits certain firefighters to be appointed and enrolled in PFRS regardless of age.
P.L. 2001/S1961 Revises PFRS funding to reduce local employers' contributions by $150 million for FY 2001.
P.L. 2003/A3530 Provides additional retirement benefits for county and municipal employees who are members of PFRS; permits issuance of refunding bonds to fund benefits.
P.L. 2003/S1434 Eliminates remarriage prohibition for PFRS and SPRS accidental death benefits.
Length of Service Award Program (LOSAP)
P.L. 2001/A2107 Revises the Emergency Services Length of Service Award Program.
FIRE CODE/FIRE PREVENTION
P.L. 2001/A1950 Establishes certification program for persons who install, service, repair, inspect and maintain fire protection equipment; provides oversight by Department of Community Affairs.
P.L.2002/S380 Requires pharmacists, other providers of oxygen or oxygen delivery systems or patients to notify local fire department of existence of oxygen or oxygen delivery system in residential setting.
P.L. 2003/A368 Prohibits imposition by water utilities of standby fees or charges for certain fire protection systems
P.L.2003/A2389 Requires that owners of age-restricted multiple dwellings notify municipal emergency management coordinator of certain utility disruptions and prepare and maintain annual emergency evacuation plans.
P.L. 2003/S276 Requires buildings with elevators to either utilize standardized fire recall keys or have installed therein elevator fire recall key lock boxes.
P.L. 2003/S2069 Requires installation of carbon monoxide detectors in single and two-family homes upon initial occupancy or change of occupancy.

P.L.2001/A1050 Increases contribution limit by counties and municipalities to volunteer first aid, ambulance and rescue squads.
P.L. 2001/A1706 Requires DCA commissioner to incorporate into State Uniform Construction Code certain dimensional requirements for elevators to accommodate stretchers in residential buildings.
P.L.2003/S341 Provides for certification for emergency medical technicians to administer epinephrine.

P.L.2002/A2423 Increases membership in Fire Protection Equipment Advisory Committee and changes effective date of P.L.2001, c.289
P.L.2005/S543 Permits certain emergency management volunteers to display blue emergency warning lights on vehicles.

STATE FIRE COMMISSION
P.L. 2001/A2118 Increases number of members of the State Fire Safety Commission to include representative of installers or manufacturers of fire suppression systems.

TAX EXEMPTION
P.L.2001/S2652 Expands property tax exemption of firefighters' organizations, which use property for income-producing activities.
P.L. 2001/S90 Permits firefighter's associations, firefighter's relief associations and volunteer fire companies to conduct certain income-producing activities and retain tax-exempt status.
