LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
The New Jersey Fire and Emergency Medical Services Institute’s Ken Anderson Award annually honors an individual who has accumulated a record of remarkable achievements in the fire and/or emergency medical services. To be considered for the award, nominee must have been a volunteer and/or career first responder for at least twenty (20) years. Nominees will be judged on the following criteria:
- Nominee has made a major contribution or has achieved significant accomplishments in the fire/emergency medical services at the local, state and/or national levels.
- Nominee has demonstrated exemplary dedication to the fire/emergency medical services and has served for at least twenty (20) years as a firefighter and/or EMT.
- Nominee has been a leader in fire/EMS organizations.
- Nominee has demonstrated community impact through his first responder service or other community involvement.
Selection of the Ken Anderson Lifetime Achievement Award recipient will be made by the Board of Delegates of the NJ Fire and EMS Institute through a statewide process. The award will be presented at the Institute’s annual dinner on June 13, 2011. Nominations must be submitted no later than May 1, 2011 and must include:
- Completed nomination form.
- A brief (500 words maximum) essay describing the nominee’s accomplishments and other reasons for consideration.
- Resume or background sheet (2 pages maximum) detailing the nominee’s experience, education or other relevant information.
- No more than three (3) additional supporting documents such as articles or letters of recommendation supporting the nomination.
C. Kenneth "Ken" Anderson was the founding president of the Institute. He was Chief of the Delran Fire Department and has been a member there for over 60 years. Ken is President Emeritus of the State Fire Chiefs Association and Past President of the State Exempt Firemen's Association. He is a member of the State Fire Safety Commission and Chair of its Training and Education Advisory Council. Ken has served on several committees of the IAFC and its Eastern Division. He is Program Chair for Fire Science Technology at Burlington County College. |
